This site has gone through many changes over the
years - growing and expanding along the way.
2000 - 2001
On 19th June 2000 an Irish Tenors fan in Florida, Peri Craven, opened
a fan site for the then "new" member of the Irish Tenors
Finbar Wright. After a few months she decided to pass it on and on
20th August 2000 your Webmaster took it over.
It was moved to a new address "finbarwright.ws" on 6th September
2000.
During the next 15 months the site was redesigned and expanded to
include sections on Finbar's albums, past career, latest news, newspaper
articles, archives, concert photos etc... In May 2001 Finbar wrote
a welcome message for the site and contributed other items on an ongoing
basis.
2001 - 2003
On 5th November 2001 the site was once
again moved - this time to a home at "finbarwright.com"
and became the Official Finbar Wright website - the site hits had
reached 54,126 at the time of the switch. After
the transition to "official" status more new sections were
added: The most important of these being a Website Shopping facility
where Finbar's albums and poetry book could be purchased through the
site. On the 30th November 2001our most popular feature "Follow
the Tour"with our little Yellow Bus was born!
In December of that year a Guestbook and Mailing
List were added and over the next two years many other sections came
into existence including: a Fan Fare area, Jokes and Conundrums (contributed
by Finbar), A Little Bit of Ireland, various competitons were held
- the most notable being Hidden Ireland, Valentine's Day Limericks
and an Egg Hunt
!.
In November 2002 audio clips were added for the first time and in
December of the same year a video clip was another first.
In September 2003 Finbar decided to take on the running of his official
site himself at the address "finbarwright.com" and all official
content was transferred to him. By that date the number of site hits
had reached 196,575.
2003 - 2005
The rest of the site was moved to a new address "tenortours.com",
the site hits counter was reset to zero and on the 26th October 2003
opened as "The Little Yellow Bus - Tenor Tours site". The
"little yellow bus" being taken from the popular "Follow
the Tenors" feature on the original site.
The focus of the site changed from Finbar Wright alone to following
all the Irish Tenors on their various tours through schedules, photographs,
press reports etc.
In the following years the site was expanded to include the schedules,
concert photos (and in some case recordings also) of Irish artists
other than the members of the Irish Tenors group: Ciarán Sheehan
and The Celtic Tenors Many old features havebeen retained and expanded
while new ones including Dublin webcams, Weather and Irish News features,
more audio and video etc.. have been added. The site hits at the end
of 2005 had reached 57,000
2006 - 2008
Many more artist added to the site, including for the first time non
tenors such as baritone Nyle Wolfe.
In 2006 the site recieved the Global Internet Directories silver Award
and by the end of that year the site hits had reached 91,000 and by
the end of 2007 it was 121,000. In 2007 a mailing list/discussion
forum was added -
The Tenor Tours List
As the focus of the site over the past years
has changed from concentrating on the Irish Tenors to a wider selection
of Irish artists the Webmaster decided in 2009 to work on completely
redesigning the lay out. This has been done to make navigating to
items of interest for an individual singers easier and more direct.
Each artist now having his or their own section. One of the new features
to facilitate in the site visitors is a comprehensive search engine.
Many thanks to all the fans, the managements and the aritsts who have
assisted and continue to assist in keeping this site up to date with
schedule information and photographs.
