CELTIC THUNDER RETURNS WITH NEW PUBLIC TV SPECIAL
"Celtic Thunder - Take Me Home " Exclusive Broadcast Premiere
TUESDAY, JUNE 2 at 9 p.m. on WLIW21 (90 minutes)

"The all-male vocal group's second concert special features new songs and audience favorites filmed at Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada on April 21, 2009. Since the group's U.S. debut in March 2008 with their eponymous public television concert special, Celtic Thunder has spent over 45 weeks at the top of the Billboard World Music Charts, knocking themselves from the number 1 spot with their second CD "Celtic Thunder - Act II," and played in front of over 200,000 people on their North American Tours.

In Celtic Thunder - Take Me Home Damian McGinty--now, one foot-and-a-half taller and in deeper voice--sings new songs "Happy Birthday Sweet 16" and "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" like a young Neil Sedaka or Frankie Valli. Ryan Kelly's dark destroyer character emerges during a his rendition of The Police's "Every Breath You Take," George Donaldson's personality and sense of humor shines through in his energetic performance of The Proclaimers' hit "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," and Paul Byrom's singing on "You Raise Me Up" is not to be missed. Blonde surfer heart-throb Keith Harkin is set to steal more hearts singing "Castles in the Air," during which he also plays guitar. The men band together for "Working Man" and "Take Me Home," their voices even more powerful during these ensemble songs. Celtic Thunder also sings an a cappella rendition of "Danny's Boy" by popular demand after their hugely successful St. Patrick's Day performances this year along Manhattan's 5th Ave during the parade and later that evening at the White House for President Obama's family and guests - the highlight of the whirlwind first year of their U.S. career"

News of Ciaran Sheehan from Broadway World - Thursday 19th April 2007

The tale of the Molly Maguires, which was made into a successful Paramount movie in the late 60's, will soon have a new incarnation. A new musical, entitled The Molly Maguires, will have its premiere at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

This special 4 performance run is part of a month-long festival celebrating the achievements of Northeastern Pennsylvania's coal miners and, especially, their contribution to the advancement of social justice in the United States. Set in 1877 in the coal fields of Pennsylvania, The Molly Maguires is the tale of a secret society of immigrant Irish mine workers who fight against prejudice and injustice in the mining industry.

Jim Burke, who was the chief financial officer of Paramount Pictures when The Molly Maguires was made, is at the helm of this new production. Burke, who hales from Wilkes-Barre and whose heritage is steeped in the Mollies tradition, decided to bring this work home to its roots. The book is by William Strzempek; music and lyrics by Sid Cherry; direction by Sheryl Kaller; production design by Charles Corcoran and lighting by Michael Gilliam. John McDaniel (best known as Rosie O'Donnell's musical director) is musical director and conductor.

Heading the cast of The Molly Maguires is Ciaran Sheehan. Other major roles are to be played by Thom Sesma, Leah Hocking, William Parry, Donna Lynne Champlin, Ken Jennings and Elena Shaddow. The newly completed production culminates Anthracite Heritage Month in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Tickets for The Molly Maguires are priced at $65, $55, $40 and $30 (for students). They can be purchased at the F.M. Kirby Center Box Office (71 Public Square), by phone (570-826-1100), or online at www.kirbycenter.org. The Molly Maguires will be performed on Thursday April 26th and Friday April 27th at 7:30 pm and Saturday, April 28th at 2 pm and 7:30 pm.

"The Irish Tenors and Friends" press coverage today (2nd June 2006)

Many of the Irish newspapers today have pieces on The Irish Tenors and their new TV show (most accompanied by photos of the group) starting this evening .
A number have the show as their "Pick of the Day"

Here are some excerpts:

The Irish Tenors and Friends
"Ireland's favourite classy guys are back on the television screens tonight with a brand new show.
The Irish Tenors - Anthony Kearns, Karl Scully and the fabulous Finbar Wright - have been given 10 weeks in which to tease, tantalise and delight us with their vocal prowess.
Throughout the series the lads will be performing Irish classics, popular standards, show tunes and light opera.
They will be joined each week by a special guest and the line-up already includes X Factor winner Shayne Ward, Andrew LLoyd Webber, Sharon Shannon, You're a Star winner Lucia Evans and young tenor "upstart" Payl Byrom. Tonight Belfast-born Brian Kennedy is the star attraction, performing for the first time since his honourable showing on Eurovision last month.
Just the thing to enjoy with a chilled glass of Charonnay"
Daily Irish Mirror

-----------------------------

Trio Are On Song
"The Irish Tenors, namely Anthony Kearns, Finbar Wright and Karl Scully, will be performing live in your living room tonight!
The operatic trio are set to show off their tonsils during a new summer show, starting this evening.
They'll be joined by a host of musical guests including pop smoothie Shayne Ward and musical king Andrew Llyod Webber. And tonight they take the stage with Eurovision entrant Brian Kennedy.
If you combine the soulful croonings of Belfast's Brian with the three biggest voices around then surely you're bound to be onto a winner.
And one thihrd of the world-famous classical singers, Finbar Wright revealed they'll be letting their hari down by belting out some modern hits.
He said: "The show will take that stiff look off the group which you normally expect when you see singers dressed in tails"
The Irish Sun

----------------------------------

Bigger Hit than the Sopranos
With the Late Late taking a break over the summer, the Irish Tenors are presenting a new entertainment series on Friday nights.
Anthony Kearns, Finbarr Wright and new member Karl Scully will perform while also being joined by leading Irish and international guests........Already confirmed for the series are Andrew LLoyd Webber, Hayley Westenra, Paul Carrick, Peter Grant, Lucia Evans and Paul Byrom.
The Irish Tenors have sold out the world's most famous concert venues including Madison Square Garden and the Sydney Opera House.
They've released eight best-selling albums in the past seven years, all of which have featured in the Billboard World Music Top Ten.
Their TV special on Ellis Island made entertainment history as the first concert to be recorded in the legendary Registry Hall - the place where millions of emigrants entered the US

QVC - the Tenors did appear on the show this morning but unfortunately they didn't sing.
Fans who attended the Foxwoods concert last night reported that Finbar dropped his solos and saved his voice during the evening. This is probably the reason they didn't sing this morning. Lets hope with a days rest he will be fit and well for tonight's concert in New Jersey.
Tenors on TV

The Irish Tenors appeared this morning, 16th March, on Fox and Friends - unfortunately there was no advance notice of this appearance so only a few lucky fans saw them sing "Whiskey in the Jar" and chat to the presenters. Tomorrow 17th March - St. Patrick's Day it is reported that they are to appear on QVC to promote the new "Heritage" CD at the 9am and 3pm slots.

LOWELL CONCERT 6th December
Lowell Memorial auditorium announced their decision to go ahead with tonight's concert, despite the weather, on their website.

This is their message:

"Dear Patrons: Tonight’s performance of the Irish Tenors Christmas Spectacular will go on as scheduled. The decision to go forward with the performance has been made because there is no option to reschedule the performance due to the busy schedule of concerts, interviews and recording sessions that The Irish Tenors maintain. Throughout the day on Saturday, the management of the auditorium has consulted with other venues in the area, such as The Wang Center, The North Shore Music Theater, The Fleetcenter and the Verizon Wireless Arena. All of these venues have events scheduled for Saturday evening, and all of these events will go forward as scheduled as well".

Good news for fans! There was a M&G with the Tenors after last night's concert in Clearwater!!
