CLASSICAL singer
Finbar Wright has revealed his relief that he turned down a dog collar
for a microphone.
The Three Tenors* star almost joined the priest-hood 20 years ago. But
the married dad of two said:"I'm glad I got out of the priesthood before
this earthquake erupted. "It's, very sad that these guilty priests have
brought such disrepute on the church. I know there are so many good men
out there doing good work because I was almost one of them."
The Cork-born singer was studying at seminary when he realised it wasn't
the life for him*. He said: "No one ever pushed me into the priest-hood.
I decided at 16 that I was going to be one. But in my heart I never thought
of myself as a priest."
Now in his career and family life Finbar is happier than ever. Afterjoining
the Three Tenors in 2000, he, Anthony Kearns and John Mc-Dermott have
travelled the world. But Finbar and the boys will get to spend New Year
in their homeland with their concert in the Point Theatre on December
31.
