Irish tenor to perform at Holbrook church

Anthony Kearns, a member of the world famous Irish Tenors, will sing a concert at St. Michael's Church in Holbrook on Sunday, May 6, at 3 p.m. The event will benefit the restoration of the historic church, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The concert is sponsored by the Friends of Old St. Michael's, a ten-year-old charitable organization whose mission is to preserve and restore the 140-year-old church and the Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall, built in 1899. The church and hall have been the historical focus of the local Irish community whose roots stretch back to Iowa's pioneer days. The community, which now extends across the United States, has come together to preserve the two buildings as a reflection of its history and to celebrate that history.

Anthony Kearns enjoys a worldwide reputation and he and his fellow tenors have released a number of very successful CDs. They have appeared in concert on public television as well as appearing on "The Today Show" and "Live with Regis and Kelly". The Irish Tenors have performed to sold-out audiences throughout the United States.

Kearns' solo concerts have been highly successful and eagerly awaited by his numerous fans. Patrick Healy, an accomplished concert pianist, will accompany Kearns in the concert of Irish Music.

Kearns draws upon the great music of Ireland and its rich history for his musical celebration of Irish heritage and culture. Kearns began singing as a youth in Ireland and has cultivated his gift into one of today's finest voices. In addition to performing traditional Irish music, Kearns has had the opportunity to sing "The Irish Ring", a compilation of three great Irish operas as well as Verdi's "Falstaff", which he performed in Italy.

There will be only 350 seats available for the St. Michael's concert. The performance will be followed by a public reception for Kearns at the AOH hall.
